Thursday, 21 May 2009

The impact and effects of the oil and gas industry on the B.C. environment will be the focus of a lecture at College of New Caledonia.
Two of Canada’s most prominent authors will speak at the free talk scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday in Room 1-306.
Featured will be Ian McAllister, an award-winning photographer and author who is one of Canada’s leading wilderness advocates, and Andrew Nikiforuk who will discuss tar sands, pipelines and the uncertain future of B.C.’s wild coast.
The Story With Two Ends lecture will revolve around McAllister's award-wining books “The Great Bear Rainforest” and “The Last Wild Wolves of the Great Bear Rainforest.”
Nikiforuk’s latest book, “Tar Sands: Dirty Oil and the Future of a Continent,” reveals the true costs of America’s oil addiction.
The two will also speak at CNC in Burns Lake May 26 in Room 007 at 7 p.m.
