“I live and paint in Whistler, BC where my nearness to mountain landscape and coastal forest breathes life into my being and informs my vision as a painter. My paintings are loose, gestural interpretations primarily of the animal figurative and portrait. Rendition of form finds a new balance with brushstroke and mark becoming as important as the subject being painted. Layers of transparent and opaque pigment and the use of neutrals and line articulate a responsive dialogue that happens directly on the canvas. I seek to respond to my idea of subject and therefore, invite my own relevance and authenticity into the work.
I have a deep love for animals and the natural spaces they inhabit and my hope, through paint, is to engage and connect the viewer with this world.”
