On August 13, International Wolf Day, Pacific Wild is hosting a Dog Walk For Wolves in Victoria, B.C., a free community event to raise awareness about the dangers B.C. wolves face, and how people can take action.

Wolves and dogs share an ancestor. Yet while we celebrate dogs as family, wolves in the wild are being gunned down from helicopters because the B.C. government decided it was easier to kill wolves than fix the habitat loss actually driving caribou decline.

If you live near Victoria, we encourage you to bring your dog and join us for a walk that turns the love we already have for dogs into action for their wild relatives. No expertise needed. Just you, your dog (if you have one), and the willingness to take a stand for your dog’s wild cousins.

Meet your neighbours, stretch your legs and pet some pups.

The event will include a dog howl contest, photo opportunities, and a walk from Beacon Hill park to the nearby Legislative grounds.

Host your own Dog Walk for Wolves!

If you can’t make it to our Victoria event but want to host a Dog Walk for Wolves in your own community, we created a Toolkit to make it easy to plan.

Wolves across North America, and indeed across the world, face similar threats at the hands of humans. That’s why we hope to inspire dog walk events far and wide on International Wolf Day, so that together, we can create a united voice for wolf conservation.

Stay in touch! We’d love to hear about the event you are planning and help amplify it to keep the momentum going.
