Research & Education

Pacific Wild works  to defend wildlife throughout the Great Bear Rainforest and the northwest Pacific region of Canada. Without an ecosystem-based approach to land and ocean  management, these ecologically precious ecosystems are threatened by the  by fossil fuel shipments, unsustainable fisheries, net-pen salmon farms, ocean warming and acidification, to name a few. Your support, ideas and actions can help to protect the future of wildlife and habitat in the Great Bear and beyond.

The Science

At Pacific Wild, we believe that conservation is strongest when it weaves together western science and traditional ecological knowledge. Our science-based campaigns are guided by this holistic approach — working to protect wildlife, safeguard healthy ecosystems, and support the well-being of human communities, recognizing that we all depend on a thriving natural world.

We invite you to explore the science that informs and strengthens our campaigns. These resources are freely available and intended to support a wide audience — from teachers and students to researchers and anyone passionate about protecting the natural world.

Education Resources

There is no better way to promote a healthy environment and planet for all species (including us) than getting our youth excited and involved in learning about the natural world! We’ve created a list of some resources for teachers to share with students about some of the amazing biodiversity in B.C.

Community engagement

Community engagement is critical to driving meaningful change for conservation. At Pacific Wild, our team is deeply involved in initiatives that span from grassroots education to high-level policy work. We participate as stakeholders in government consultations on marine protected areas, the transition away from open-net pen salmon farms, the protection of wolves from culling programs, and the integrity of seafood certification systems. We’re also active in public outreach, bringing education to communities and contributing to local initiatives like Ocean Week Victoria.
