Leave Something Behind for wildlife

Just one sentence in your will could benefit wildlife for decades to come

The Great Bear Rainforest and protection of British Columbia’s biodiversity is a remarkable legacy. Pacific Wild was founded to ensure that the biodiversity of our province be not only conserved, but actively protected for future generations.

Planned giving is the act of making a commitment in your will to give a charitable organization a major gift, over time or at death, as part of the donor’s overall financial and estate planning.

Planning your estate is a crucial step, understanding the ways your gift can best benefit Pacific Wild and represent your wishes is also important. We encourage you to contact us.

No matter the size, gift bequests in your legal will can be one of the most impactful contributions you can make in your lifetime, ensuring that the conservation goals inspiring you today continue to be met for those who follow.

If you already included Pacific Wild in your estate plans, please let us know by filling out this form or contacting Laurie McConnell at 778-401-5222 or development@pacificwild.org. Informing Pacific Wild of your intent allows us to plan for the future, and to ensure your gift is used as intended.

How to leave a gift in your will

There are many ways that gifts can be structured. Gifts may come in the form of money, proceeds of an estate, gifts of property (a boat!), by making Pacific Wild a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, stocks and securities or an investment. Tax benefits often accompany a gift from a will or estate.

It can be a pleasure to share one’s vision of their legacy with the organization they plan to bestow it to. Again, we are happy to meet with you and share our vision of the future and how your legacy can help safeguard wildlife and their habitat in British Columbia for future generations.

You can always change your mind – it’s an intention expressed towards a goal you hold while you are alive.

Just express your intention in a sentence that includes our legal name and charitable registration number. Be sure to use the U.S. charity for donors based in the United States – all others should use the Canadian information.

Benefits of a charitable bequest

Leaving a gift in your will can provide tax benefits that will be passed on to your heirs. Your donation to Pacific Wild means the gift can be claimed against 100% of net income on the final two lifetime tax returns. In some instances, making a charitable donation can offset taxes, ensuring that gifts to family and friends are worth more.
