Event: Where the Ocean Meets the Rainforest Exhibition

Spirit Bear Rainforest by Carole Finn

Ian McAllister, conservationist, filmmaker, wildlife photographer and co-founder of Pacific Wild joins west coast artist Carole Finn for a one month exhibition at the Goldfinch Arts Centre in Colwood (Victoria) showcasing the wildlife of the Great Bear Rainforest in B.C..

July 24 — August 24
Goldfinch Arts Centre

170 Goldfinch Rd in Colwood

Ian is a member of the International League of Wildlife Photographers and has been documenting the central coast for 30 years, and directed the IMAX film The Great Bear Rainforest: Land of the Spirit Bear, still playing in theatres worldwide after its 2019 release.

Ian’s images capture the life of this magical coastline, where the oceans and forests meet in a landscape of wind, waves, tidal currents, and estuaries surrounded by old-growth trees.

Award winning artist Carole Finn has been inspired by Ian’s work to create large scale paintings bringing the Great Bear Rainforest into homes and businesses around the world.

“Ultimately, the project offers a new way of looking at conservation: through art that evokes emotion and fosters a deeper connection to the environment,” Carole Finn said. “I hope to inspire audiences not only to appreciate wildlife but to feel empowered to take action in preserving it.”
