🐻 `Return of the Great Bear` is making headlines!
We are thrilled to see the excitement around our film and its urgent message. If we work together we can make positive change.
‘Return Of The Great Bear’ tells the story of the decades-long fight to ban grizzly bear trophy hunting in B.C. While the ban took effect in 2017, grizzlies still face threats from shrinking salmon runs, climate change, industrial logging, and pushback from the hunting lobby.
Now more than ever, we must stand together to protect what is wild. Join us and be part of the movement!

New blog alert! 🐺
In an interview with Pacific Wild, retired SPCA Constable Dale Bakken explains that shooting wolves from helicopters is inherently inhumane, with little chance of a quick, clean kill.
With four years of helicopter-based research experience, Dale argues that the B.C. government has no real interest in ensuring a quick, humane kill. He also points out that B.C. was forced to change its laws after being sued for illegally shooting wolves from helicopters five years ago. Aerial hunting was banned because it too often resulted in slow, painful deaths.
Pacific Wild asked Dale to review graphic images obtained through a Freedom of Information (FOI) request documenting the wolf cull. His expert assessment confirms prolonged suffering and a disturbing disregard for animal welfare.
Since 2015, the B.C. government has killed over 2,000 wolves, spending more than $11 million of taxpayer money—while acknowledging that the biggest threat to caribou is the loss of critical habitat.
Wolves Are Scapegoats for Caribou Decline
Right now, wolves are being chased to exhaustion in deep snow, making them easy targets for government-hired sharpshooters. Every winter, helicopters are used to gun down the wolves from the air or land to net and collar individuals. These so-called "Judas Wolves" are then tracked back to their pack, leading to the slaughter of entire families.
