Race our 5 expeditionists from Telegraph Cove to Alaska!

Three New Zealanders and two Canadians are embarking on a 1500km journey of discovery by kayak through the Great Bear Rainforest and beyond to Juneau, Alaska.

The journey begins on May 28th, 2025 from Bowsa Cove – the next bay down from Telegraph Cove on Vancouver Island.

Along the way they will be sending vlogs and images to share their progress on a live story map, offering insights into the wildlife, ecosystems and communities on the route.

Donate $18 and sponsor 1km of the 575km journey through the Great Bear Rainforest!

With your help, we will beat the expeditionists to the northern border of the Great Bear Sea. Donate as many ‘kilometers’ as you wish!

We’re aiming to raise $10,000 to support the creation and strengthening of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in B.C.

Your donation helps fuel Pacific Wild’s work across the coast — from participating in community meetings and public consultations, to launching awareness campaigns and sharing powerful stories about how MPAs can transform ecosystems, support coastal economies, and safeguard biodiversity.

Your Impact

MPAs face resistance from industrial interests and political pressures at both the provincial and federal level. Even though Prime Minister Mark Carney has repeated the commitment to protect 30% of Canada’s oceans by 2030, lobbying and industry pressure—and the spread of misinformation—continues.

Your gift ensures that the voices of conservationists (that’s you!) are there to speak on behalf of the millions of Canadians who want a return to balance and coexistence for our relationship with our natural environment along this magical coastline.

Your understanding of the ‘precautionary principle’ and your wisdom in knowing that keeping places like the Great Bear Rainforest sustained and protected is an investment for future generations. You know what’s easy, and what’s right.

You know what to do and you aim to make a difference. Help win the race for ocean protection in B.C.!
