UBCIC Passes Resolution in Support for BC First Nations’ Territorial Management

On March 17, 2022 the Union of BC Indian Chiefs passed resolution #2022-09 titled “Support for BC First Nations’ Territorial Management and Protection of Caribou and Wolf Populations”.

The UBCIC resolution provides critical Indigneous perspectives and highlights the importance of holistic ‘government to government’ fields of vision regarding the provincial wolf-cull program and broader caribou conservation concerns. Resolution #2022-09 was publicly shared with Honourable Katrine Conroy, Honourable Murray Rankin and Honourable Josie Osborne.

Pacific Wild is grateful for the proactive leadership of the UBCIC and the valuable Indigenous voices it represents.

“The wolf cull program that was commenced in 2015… [and] made wolves targets for inhumane aerial killings – despite the wolf cull being the direct result of the government’s failure to stop the human encroachment and habitat destruction that has pushed B.C.’s mountain caribou to the edge of extinction”
