Donor Support

At Pacific Wild we love connecting with our donors and supporters, and assisting you with whatever you may need. We are committed to responding to all inquiries as quickly as possible.

Our operating hours are from 9am to 5pm Pacific time, Monday to Friday. If you need to speak with a donor relations representative, you can reach us by phone at 1-778-401-5222 or 1-250-380-0547, by email at donations@pacificwild.org, or via Facebook messenger. You can also write to us at 1529 Amelia St. Victoria, BC, V8W 2K1 in Canada, or 1567 Highlands Drive NE Suite 110-373, Issaquah, WA 98029 in the United States.

Our frequently asked questions are noted below. Feel free to reach out to donations@pacificwild.org if you have any questions not addressed here. And thank you for being a part of our donor community.

One-time donations made online are immediately receipted to the email provided during the donation process.

Recurring donations made online via our website are receipted after the end of the calendar year, in time for tax deadlines in Canada and the United States.

Donations made by cheque, electronic funds transfer (we prefer cheque or online for administrative cost reasons), stocks/securities etc. are receipted before February 28 of the following calendar year.

Tax receipts will be provided earlier upon request to donations@pacificwild.org

Please login to your donor portal (Canada; United States) and download your receipt. If you are having difficulty logging in or finding your receipt please contact donations@pacificwild.org for assistance.

Absolutely! We know many supporters are conscious of administrative and environmental costs and wish to receive correspondence digitally. Contact us at donations@pacificwild.org and share your preferences.

Please note: if your email address is bad, or if you have completely ‘opted out’ of emails or unsubscribed to our newsletter, Canada anti-spam laws prevent us from emailing you and we may need to send you postal mail until your address is updated or your preferences changed to ‘donation only’ for postal mail.

The most important steps:

Do you have an email address for your honouree? If yes, continue below.

If not, please make a regular donation and use the Add Comment box to send your note and the name and address where we should mail the card.

Next step is to select “Dedicate this donation” before beginning the donation process:

When you select the option you will enter the name of the person you wish to honour (or pet, as many have done!).

After you complete your donation, you will see options to write a personalised message and send an ecard with your donation. Be sure to click on ‘Send a personalized card with your dedication’ to continue.

You will then be able to select ‘In Honour’ or ‘In Memory’, and add your info so they know who made the gift, your message, the option to hide the amount of your gift, and the recipient’s first and last name, along with an email address. Upon completion your card will be emailed immediately.

If you would like to leave a gift to Pacific Wild, go to our Leave Something Behind for Wildlife page for more information.

If you are giving monthly via our website or forms, please log in to your donor portal. In your portal you can change the amount, turn cover fees on or off, change your credit card, and download receipts.

You can also pause or cancel your monthly gift, or change it to bimonthly, quarterly or annually for frequency.

Most people choose to donate via our general donation forms. Funds are allocated based on priority of our campaigns and our budget. However, some Wilders donate specifically to wolves, herring, salmon, bears, or marine protection. To donate directly to those campaigns, visit the campaign pages on our website and look for the big donation section (rather than the regular donate button).

Here’s an example from our Wolf Campaign. Donating via the section sends the funds to that campaign.

Please follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Tiktok – whichever platforms you prefer. Share our content, and comment too!

Write letters to your elected Federal and Provincial representatives and share a copy with us, or use the advocacy letter writing tools on our campaign pages.

We do get quite a bit of interest in volunteering for Pacific Wild. Most people are hoping to get out in the field. However, opportunities for fieldwork are rare.

Most of our team’s time is spent in the office doing research, content creation, data analysis, communication, and campaign strategy.

Most of the volunteer work we need as an organization is:

  • Helping out at events
  • Admin work like helping with our annual print journal mailout or shipping items won in our annual auctions
  • Volunteering graphic design skills for side projects
  • Joining special committees for events planning (fundraiser experience, event management experience)
  • Helping with data analysis and research (for people with academic backgrounds)
  • Hosting information events for your friends, family or community about the campaigns

These are GREAT ways to introduce yourself to our organisation. Our volunteer database is one of the first places we look when we’re hiring for a position.

No. That would be a breach of your privacy, something we take very seriously.

Why did I get a printed mail send from your organization I was not expecting?

We occasionally do direct mail campaigns to introduce Pacific Wild’s work for British Columbia biodiversity to people known to support similar causes. It’s important to build our supporter list for organizational sustainability and a commonly used tool for non-profits.

We purchase those lists from legitimate brokers who work exclusively with non-profits.

We track where our lists originate and if you provide us with the code included with a mailer you did not wish to receive, we can tell you which company shared your information with the list brokerage, and ensure we make a note of either no printed mail or no further communication depending on your preferences.

Often people sign up for discounts, events, free downloads, or memberships and miss the checkbox for ‘share my information with related companies or service providers’ that can be set to auto-yes. This gives permission for your information to be shared. We can help you connect with the original company that shared your email address to request they take you off their list.
