The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is accepting comments on the 2024/2025 Draft Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) for Pacific herring until November 27, 2024.
The most effective way to help Pacific herring is to write to fisheries representatives telling them that
1. You do not support the commercial gillnet and seine fishery
2. You support movement towards an ecosystem approach to fisheries management of herring in British Columbia.
We need to allow Pacific herring populations to come back to sustainable levels. It’s time for Fisheries and Oceans Canada to protect this #BIGLittleFish for generations to come.
